Grid Wars Github Gridwars
I, along with my teammates, formed a group of four and participated
in the
2024 CERN Spring Campus
hackathon. The event was held at the
Deggendorf Institute of Technology
from March 11th to 14th.
The hackathon hosted by the event featured a game named "Grid Wars".
The gameplay of which is briefly showcased below. We are team
Anonymous, the one in red. One of the reasons I am
showcasing this match is because I appreciate how the blue team
opens up the grid beautifully as well!

The game concept is particularly interesting to me. Essentially, the game's core objective is to either conquer the 50x50 grid or have more troops by the time the round reaches 2000 turns to win the game.
Instruction
1. 1vs1 matches between 2 bots in a 50x50 cells board.
2. Bots start at a random cell with 100 troop units.
3. Bots take alternating turns to move units.
4. Bots can only move up, down, left, right. I.e., no diagonals.
5. You can move into your own cells, the population will be merged.
6. If two bots meet in the same cell, they fight!
7. Surviving units = attacking - defending units.
8. Population increased by 10% every round (i.e., 2 turns), and it
is rounded to nearest integer.
9. Maximum population per cell is 100.
Result
Our team, "Anonymous", won a second place in the hackathon! The intensity and excitement of developing this project alongside my team marked this an unforgettable adventure to me.
